words and tone
[edit]Language used in this Wikipedia article about Sir Geoffrey Arama Henry appears to indicate an outdated, US-centric viewpoint more suited to a political journal than an encyclopedia page.
For example, the Early Life reference to Henry as a "native" of Aitutaki seems more suited to a political journal in the 1970s US, than a global, 21st century encyclopedia. Reinforcing the political journal impression is the description of an Albert Henry administration as "mediocre", again not encyclopaedic language.
As someone who reported on Sir Geoffrey and the myriad facets of his career, it pains me to see this casual approach to his legacy. Much as we might have crossed swords on the regular at his weekly press conferences, he was one of the very few Pacific leaders to hold weekly press conferences; some still hold none at all.
Writing this here in "Talk" as a marker for removal of above language in favour of more contemporary and neutral terms. Jasonbrown1965 (talk) 00:57, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
