per "examiner.com", which, given how it gets its stories, an unreliable source, Hermanski died yesterday, Aug. 9th.

"When Hermanski played for the Brooklyn Dodgers with Jackie Robinson, he demonstrated he was a great team mate by suggesting that all of the players stand in solidarity by wearing number 42 to confuse potential snipers who were out to kill Jackie Robinson merely for the color of his skin.
