I have some serious reservations about the correctness of the statement "In 1961, the Dovells charted a song called The Bristol Stomp which refers to Bristol, PA and includes the line "We pony and twisted and we rocked with Daddy G"." in relation to this person's date of birth in 1959. I can attest that the cited line is included in the specified song, but why would The Dovells be talking about ponying and twisting and rocking with a 2-year-old infant in Bristol Stomp? Also, a friend of mine went to a Daddy G performance at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA about two years ago, and informs me that "Daddy G" was about 70 years old (in 2006) and is a renowned saxophone player, not a "trip-hop" singer. MY CONCLUSION: there are multiple performers adopting the name "Daddy G" and someone should remove the Bristol Stomp reference from the stub describing the one born in 1959, as it is patently absurd. The Daddy G to which the song Bristol Stomp refers is, in fact, Gene Barge, tenor saxophonist of the band The Church Street Five, as indicated here: .

ADDED by Doug Jacques 12/20/2008 I have researched the "Daddy G" situation and edited the main article to reflect the fact that there are TWO musicians using that pseudonym. The original Daddy G, and clearly the one referred to in The Bristol Stomp, is Gene Barge. I have inserted 3 external links into the main article, leading to authoritative articles on Gene Barge and The Church Street Five, one of the bands he was in, because I do not know how to set up the "discography" (musical credits table) that someone has set up for the Johnny-come-lately (Marshall) who appropriated Gene Barge's 'Daddy G' pseudonym. Please, if any knowledgeable editors see this, feel free to "convert" the info at my external links into a proper Wiki musical credits table.
