'Enagra' was a fief of the Domaine Royale in the Bailiwick of Lefkonico in the XVth century" The above taken from the site about the route of FAMAGUSTA TO NICOSIA BY RAILWAY... The word Enagra in Italian means Evening Prime Rose. The village country site was full of wild Narcissus hence its Turkish name of Nergisli.It has been under occupation since 1974. There are two Christian churches and one mosque. The village had a mix population prior to 1974, with the majority of Greek Cypriots. The ancient church of Agios Georgios (St George) is the only one in Cyprus. Part of the church is built underground since Byzantine times. The old part of the church was full of Byzantine wall paintings .After the occupation the neglect and humidity destroyed them.Part of the roof collapsed. The second church is Panagia (Virgin Mary) which was built in the early 50's. The history of the village is not really known. Some villagers used to say that Genagra means the Akra or the End of Genoa.(Genoakra)Prior to 1974 there were regular communications between Fammagusta and Nicosia where a lot of the younger people worked.The older population was busy with Agriculture. Growing Wheat,Barley,Legumes was their main occupation.

Prior to 1974 there were 3 Greek Coffee Shop in the village and one Turkish.Currently the only Greek Coffee shop that remained standing  was converted to a  market shop  called " Nergisli Market"
