Add images of "MLM" and "Achillean" pride flags, as they are both important symbols representing gay men, which are largely identified with by said men. Chaicxx (talk) 11:37, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done. It's not clear what changes you want to make. Deacon Vorbis (carbon  videos) 13:45, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I said your request under the format. I hope that it, like, works. ~2026-35934-38 (talk) 10:37, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Under the subheading === Identity formation ===, add [[File:MLM flag.svg|thumb|alt=The Achillean flag, used to represent men or masculine people attracted to other men or masculine people.|The Achillean flag, used to represent men or masculine people attracted to other men or masculine people.]] and [[File:MLM Seven Stripe Flag.png|thumb|alt=The MLM flag, used to represent men who are attracted to other men.|The MLM flag, used to represent men who are attracted to other men.]]. They are both important symbols largely identified with by gay men. ~2026-35934-38 (talk) 10:35, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done. Images should illustrate something that's discussed in the section they're placed in, but I see no such discussion here. See MOS:IMAGEREL for more detail. Deacon Vorbis (carbon  videos) 13:29, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

A section to talk about vehement sexism among some gay men is very important

[edit]

I think we need to add a section talking about the prevalence of sexism among some gay men. Jino john1996 (talk) 17:51, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Right now, Wikipedia describes sexism as prejudice or discrimination based on one's sex or gender. I think you meant Discrimination against gay men, right? Also, what about femmephobia, which is phobia against effeminacy? Or... homophobia? Maybe you meant misogyny or misandry? George Ho (talk) 18:08, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I mean ancient Greece was full of it. To justify homosexuality, they went full blown sexist towards women. Like women have inferior intellect so it's better to love men. Read plato's Symposium. I think one of the reasons sexism was so prevalent in ancient Greece was that a lot of men were just not into women. But because they were expected to marry, they still went on to marry and have children. Jino john1996 (talk) 19:21, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
This is your personal supposition and you are entitled to it but, without Reliable Sources there isn't really any point in raising it here. I really doubt that not being into women sexually is a significant driver of sexism. Ancient Greece was a set of mostly very patriarchal societies and all men were raised with those values which were accepted across those societies. --DanielRigal (talk) 19:35, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
How did they become patriarchy in the first place? That is the question here. The most important thing to remember here is that straight men and gay men are biologically different. A lot of gay men still go on to marry women and have children. A study done by Kingsley suggests that 40% of American men have homosexual tendencies. Jino john1996 (talk) 19:52, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
No. Please stop. If your thesis is that Ancient Greek patriarchy arose from homosexuality then please keep that nonsense far, far away from Wikipedia. --DanielRigal (talk) 20:17, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is the truth. Ancient greece and Rome is a great example of this. Homosexuality was very prevalent among ancient Greeks and Romans. But so do sexism. Its not a coincidence. Both are interconnected. I don't believe in the idea that because women and men lived separately those men somehow become gay. A straight men cannot become gay later in life due to some circumstances. He is born that way. Its biology.
What i am getting at is that both this page and heterosexual men's page requires a separate section to talk about sexism. Jino john1996 (talk) 20:37, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
If this is something that you believe to be a mainstream view, and which you have Reliable Sources for, then please provide them. If this is a personal theory then feel free to write a big long book about it but not here. --DanielRigal (talk) 20:42, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Is this really a distinct topic separate from sexism among men in general? I am sure that gay men can be sexist but is this anything to do with them being gay? Are there any good Reliable sources about this? --DanielRigal (talk) 19:21, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Shall one of us do something about jino john1996's content removals on Homosexuality (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) (diff)? On to your questions, perhaps the user should use WP:The Wikipedia Library and resources provided by local libraries, right? George Ho (talk) 21:22, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It might also be worth having a few more eyes on Pederasty in ancient Greece, an article which could definitely use some improvements but where they've similarly made a bunch of changes without changing the relevant sourcing in a way that might call for a second glance. --Aquillion (talk) 16:06, 22 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Gay male misogyny is certainly a real topic within feminist and queer scholarship (for example Sadie & Ojeda 2018), and likely does manifest in some distinct ways compared to heterosexual misogyny (for example, masc gay men may embrace hypermasculinity as a defense against homophobia which deems them effeminate). I cannot find any data which would support the actual prevalence of such beliefs among gay men (my assumption would be that people affected by queerphobia are on average less misogynistic).
I can find a handful of opinions and blogs from the mid-2010s which perceive or reject gay male misogyny as a prevalent issue but I don't think any rise to RS or sigcov within the general topic of Gay Men. Probably not WP:DUE here.
Likewise Jino's unsubstantiated theory that relative acceptance of male homosexuality in Ancient Greece was the cause rather than effect of their patriarchy seems silly and completely unsubstantiated.

Intro part should be about its scientific aspects rather than what is shown now.

[edit]

Just like what is shown in homosexuality page here too we should talk about it's scientific aspects. Start with scientific and genetic reasons and then talk about other things My previous edit was removed for no reason. Jino john1996 (talk) 18:57, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

This is not primarily a scientific or a medical article. This is an article about a group of people. It is fundamentally a social topic. The other stuff can be mentioned but it is not the main thing here. --DanielRigal (talk) 19:13, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I left you a note on your talk page but essentially the content you added does not belong in the WP:LEAD for a couple reasons, one being the lead should summarize content already covered and sourced in the body and the other is a better source is needed. S0091 (talk) 19:13, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
