Definition?
[edit]The article currently uses the following definition:
- The galactic plane is the plane on which most of a disk-shaped galaxy's mass lies.
However, is that actually true? If most of the mass is in the form of dark matter, does that necessarily mean it is in a plane? Other definitions use the spiral arms for the definition. For example:
- the plane passing through the spiral arms of the Galaxy
Another definition is based on the plane around which the stars tend to crowd. It can also be defined in terms of neutral hydrogen. &c. Praemonitus (talk) 03:58, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
