"second international rules test on Irish soil"?

"It is scheduled to host a game in the next International Rules Series between Australia and Ireland. The hybrid game will be played outside Croke Park for only the second time on Irish soil, with Pearse Stadium in Galway the other previous host." Is this true? I seem to remember going to the Athletic Grounds in Armagh to watch the compromise rules when I was a kid. --Eamonnca1 (talk) 19:25, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi. While the 1984 International Rules Series article implies that the game in Armagh may have been against an Ulster team (rather than an Ireland team and so not a "full" international test), the same 1984 International Rules Series article states that an Ireland-Australia game was played in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork in 1984. And this 2006 Irish Examiner article also clearly states that the "The 1984 test in Cork [..was..] the only international to be played outside Croke Park until Pearse Stadium was chosen for [the 2006 test]". Seemingly contradicting the (entirely uncited) claim that made here about the Gaelic Grounds. Making the "second" claim seemingly invalid. And uncited anyway. As a "third ever" claim would be oddly clawing (and still uncited), I've just removed the unsupported text. Guliolopez (talk) 11:42, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
