This article says that Gadsby is a novel by Ernest Vincent Wright and then goes on to (admittedly, after a comma) "and its principle character, John Gadsby". A casual look at this might make people think this is a novel co-authored by John Gadsby - would it not improve clarity to say "about its main character, John Gadsby"?
