History
[edit]Gaddis originated from the region of Punjab/Rajasthan who took refuge in the Himalayas to protect their religion from foreign invaders and made sheep rearing and farming their profession. Gaddis are not a caste but a community. Gaddi Brahmins/(Rajput, Khatri) people in the Gaddi community got Scheduled Tribe status in 2003. Keshavkumar2811 (talk) 13:23, 23 January 2026 (UTC)

- About Himalayan Gaddi Union: -
- Himalayan Gaddi Union is a union formed to unite the castes of the Gaddi community and to get them their rights. This union was formed when the government, for its own benefit, gave ST quota to the people belonging to the Gaddi Rajput, Khatri and Brahmin castes in 2003 and deprived the rest of the castes of the community from it. However, Gaddi Rajput, Khatri and Brahmin were unreserved earlier (outside the tribal area Bharmour). According to the Himalayan Gaddi Union people, Gaddi Sabab should also be added after Sippi, Dhogri, Rihade, Wadi, Hali and Lohar castes of the Gaddi community and they should also get the rights of Scheduled Tribe. However, this sub-caste.

The gaddi people are said to originally be from the punjab plains region but moved to the mountainous area to escape religious persecution during the time of Aurangzeb , majority of them live in the chamba and kangra around city centres for job opportunities or in small villages . Their culture revolves around tales of lord shiv with some examples being the Navala a celebration of lord shiv aswell as grand celebration of maha shivratri . ~2026-12941-68 (talk) 06:14, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

- Make it a vlogging website? When you know that there are Brahmins, Rajputs, Khatri castes in Gaddi and don't let their history be edited, okay? ~2026-26234-62 (talk) 10:34, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- What changes need to be made? Himachal Pradesh has included Upper Caste Gaddi in OBC. J&K Government has also given ST status to Brahmins of Gaddi community by naming them Gadda Brahmins Tribe in 2024. But don't let us edit, instead we block you by locking you. Keep posting wrong information about our Gaddi community on your website. I don't know from where such editors get Wikipedia. Please delete Gaddis page from your Wikipedia page because this is not a vlogging website. It is because of you people that wrong information reaches people. Most of the Gaddis in Himachal are originally Khatris and not Gadarias.Ok ~2026-26234-62 (talk) 10:39, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
