Idea that Gabbeh is more a kilim than a carpet

In second paragraph is written, "Gabbeh carpets are much thicker and coarser than other Persian carpets; sometimes they can be as much as one inch or 2.5 cm in depth. In fact, they are more a variety of kilim than carpet." The second sentence strikes me both as a nonsequitor and false. All Gabbehs I've ever seen are clearly hand-KNOTTED rugs, whereas kilims are hand-woven and flat-woven, i.e., NOT hand-knotted. The thicker the pile, the less likely the rug would be mistaken for a kilim. Perhaps the idea is that authentic Gabbehs tend to be small, personal-sized, whereas "carpet" tends to refer to room-sized rugs or even wall to wall. But that's far from clear.
