I'm not sure how the article has read quantum-proofness into fcrypt, but that's not what I'm getting from its manual page at all...  Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.201.56.195 (talk) 10 March 2013‎

Even if the project was decommissioned, fcrypt is still supported (May 2015) for compatibility with older devices and software. So this page may just remain for historical or documentation reasons, instead of being deleted. And undoubtedly, the page should be updated. KShiger (talk) 17:32, 31 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

The archived fcrypt page says this: "But, the symmetric encryption used by GNU fcrypt is much more secure, the best known algorithm to run on a quantum computer. Takes 2 ^ (n/2) attempts to break a password of n bits. Then 128 bits key will be unsafe, but, it is not a problem to GNU fcrypt, because it uses at least 512 bit keys. Using 256 bit ciphers. Note however that the key length may be larger." Whether or not this is actually correct is beside the point. I think the quantum computing remark should stay.
