What does "GLFW" stand for?
[edit]It sounds like "GLFW" would be an acronym, but I can't find any reliable source that says what it stands for. I only found this answer in a forum thread which claims it used to stand for "OpenGL framework". Is this correct, and if so, is there any more reliable source than this page that can confirm this? —Kri (talk) 19:10, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
- That's correct; it originally stood for OpenGL Framework, but (WP:SELFPUB ahead) both because it was always more of a library than a framework and because it nowadays supports more APIs than OpenGL, that meaning has been de-emphasized. Nowadays it can be considered a pseudo-acronym. —elmindreda (talk) 17:54, 5 November 2016 (UTC)

- This whole article section was probably copy-pasted from GLFW FAQ, the phrase in question was taken from Inroduction:1.3 https://www.glfw.org/faq#13---why-yet-another-opengl-library
- It would be nice, if the article cited it instead of stating it as a fact. FAQ itself is not very objective and isn't referencing to anything that would support it claims. SleeptightAnsiC (talk) 19:07, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
