Feral

[edit]

How relevant are feral characters to the fandom at large? Furscience barely touches on them (there's a graph showing that less than 10% of furries would describe their character as more feral than anthro) and I couldn't find any free usable images of feral art (presumably why a non-free image is used). I don't know that it should be the first image someone sees after scrolling down though. -- Reconrabbit 15:15, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

anecdotally feral art/sonas are decently common, but thats moot if no sources cover it. it might be worth mentioning that plenty of characters that enjoy popularity in the fandom are themselves feral/non-anthropomorphic, e.g. The Lion King ArkHyenawoop! (she/they/it) 16:13, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Im curious to know about one thing (I'm just curious): but can you be a therian/ feral, as well as a furry? (not trying to be rude to any therians and furries out there) ~2026-31314-00 (talk) 17:14, 27 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
yes, you can be both scourgezoned (it/its) 17:38, 27 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Scalies and featheries

[edit]

Are scalies and featheries considered furries? Or do they mean "animals" in the colloquial "non-human mammals" sense? ~2026-17127-85 (talk) 00:04, 18 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Non-mammal animals are still animals. Anyways, Wiktionary says scalies, as a term, are a part of the furry fandom. I have never heard "featheries" in this context, and Wiktionary hasn't either. There you go. 🫀 Crash // Organhaver ( it / he|talk to me, maybe? ) 00:19, 18 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
"Avians" is the more proper term for "featheries". HyperAnd (talk) 06:59, 18 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Plante et al. 2023 brings this up exactly once, fortunately it's enough detail that I can find a spot for it in the first section. -- Reconrabbit 14:00, 18 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
both Scalies and Avians are proper to add to the wiki because they are not technically sub-groups but more of a species group like how protogens are. or even wickerdragons. Stuuf (say hi) 14:09, 11 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
although (to add on) they are too small of a thing to actually add in good faith. Stuuf (say hi) 14:10, 11 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Maybe add it to Fursona if you find a source. But I don't know if there is one. I can't find even a grad school paper that mentions Zorgoia. -- Reconrabbit 14:52, 11 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I didn't even know Zorgoia existed until today but it seems as if they do have an official website. I know that wikipedia is well driven off of gold plated resources and what not. but the furry fandom is community driven so it would make since to add community things to it. just saying that sometimes things like "Zorgoia" and "scalies" are too small of a thing to mention in the grand scheme of furries. Translation/expand

[edit]

I reverted the changes by @Bencefo just now. If you disagree with my revert: can you explain what changes you want to be made? There is already an abundance of images on this article. Also, the article hu:Furry may cover different topics compared to this article in English, but translating that here would be entirely inappropriate, since all of its references are to Wikifur and German Wikpedia, which are open encyclopedias. -- Reconrabbit 14:42, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The Hungarian page tells a completely different story, it needs a complete rewrite Bencefo (talk) 13:36, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't see what is so different from the English article besides some information on furry in Hungary that look like original research. -- Reconrabbit 15:50, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have to agree. The sources on that page are utter junk. Historyday01 (talk) 16:20, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I removed the template for Spoken article from this page because it is hideously out of date. I will probably do a re-read of it some day myself. I was about to nominate this for GAN but it's got that move discussion going on right now at Talk:Furry pornography that needs resolution. -- Reconrabbit (talk) 20:07, 29 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
