Should we give some discussion here about the "pinning left" issue? This doesn't specify that pipers are an exception to the rule. Pity about the photo

This guy is about the worst dressed kiltie ever. The kilt is around his ankles, the sporran way too high, the spats too loose, the shoulder shell halfway down the arm, the plaid a foot below the right armpit, the crossbelt buckle a foot too low, etc etc. Shouldn't be hard to find a better picture. 101.113.40.13 (talk) 10:58, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

"Scottish military dress" section

It's just flat-out wrong. This section has completely confused the belted plaid with the separate-garment plaid, the subject of this article. The latter dates in regimental military dress only to the introduction of the small kilt as undress uniform, which cannot so far be dated back earlier than 1759, certainly not to the Independent Highland Companies. See J. T. Dunbar, History of Highland Dress, 1979, p. 180. I'll clean this up later when I overhaul this article, after I'm done overhauling Tartan and then splitting it up into several articles. In the interim, the reader should be aware that that section is in error, so I've tagged it for cleanup. Someone else should feel free to beat me to it.  — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼  20:10, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
