Dedication
[edit]The current article text states that the 12-inch refractor was
- officially dedicated in a ceremony on June 15, 1923 as the Irving Porter Church Memorial Telescope.
Professor Church had retired in 1916 but was still living in 1923.
Did the University really dedicate a memorial to a living person?

- To answer my own question: Yes, Professor Church was still living at the time of the dedication of his memorial. That odd detail is explicitly confirmed here, and the dedication ceremony itself is described in detail here. Both sources may be used to expand the article.
