How global is this terminology?
[edit]The lead of the article suggests that this terminology applies to "many" parliaments, which I doubt. Is it used, in fact, for any other body than the British House of Commons? See also Talk:Backbencher#Focus on the UK. --Lambiam 10:54, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
At a minimum, it is also used, though only occasionally, in Canada both in federal and provincial parliaments, and I suspect most other Westminster-derived parliamentary systems as well: the layout of such a chamber lends itself rather naturally to the system 65.93.149.180 (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
This term (as well as Backbencher) is also used frequently in the Australian media - supporting the suggestion that it applies to many Westminster houses. ThePianoMan (talk) 22:33, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
