A few book sources mention Metzger

[edit]

Re, the proposed speedy deletion (which I declined), there are some paper sources mentioning him in various books on church architecture, (see Google Books result). –MuZemike 00:39, 13 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • ... that Swiss architect Fritz Metzger designed a church in the shape of a fish?
  • ALT0a: ... that Swiss architect Fritz Metzger designed a church with a floor plan shaped like a fish's belly?
  • Source: Verification: „Der Architekt Fritz Metzger hat den Grundriss der Form eines Fischbauches nachempfunden.“ Katholische Pfarrei Gossau ZH
Translation: “The architect Fritz Metzger modelled the floor plan on the shape of a fish’s belly.”

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
    QPQ: Done.

Overall: @HerBauhaus: Expanded 5x on 19-20 August and submitted to DYK on 20 August. No copyright issues, Earwig's Copyvio Detector gives 0%. However, I have trouble verifying the hook. Google translation of the source gives me:

    • source: The architect Fritz Metzger modeled the floor plan on the shape of a fish belly.
    • hook ... designed a church in the shape of a fish?

"Designed a church" and "modeled the floor plan" are different and so is a "fish" and a "fish belly". I would suggest to rewrite the hook and the relevant statement in the article closer to the source. Otherwise you need a different source to support the hook. Thanks for catching this, A.Cython . I've now tightened both the hook and the corresponding sentence in the article so that they more closely reflect the source. ALT0 has been struck and replaced with ALT0a. Let me know if you have any further questions. HerBauhaus · talk 12:15, 30 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
