There are more criticisms that need to be added
[edit]The current criticism section only focuses on the regional iniquities that this policy produced. I'm not an economist, but it is pretty obvious that this policy must also have led to sub-optimal utilisation of resources at the national level and reduced overall economic growth, and I would be very surprised if there isn't academic commentary on this matter, which should be referred to in the article.
