Harbor Drive and Park East

I would suggest edits for style. The subject of the sentence, "Cities," is separated from the main verb. The reader sees two apposite clauses with more than twenty words before the main verb, "created."
Here is a suggested revision: "Portland and Milwaukee executed freeway removal projects that reduced traffic, spurred economic development, and allowed for the creation of new neighborhoods and commercial districts. The Harbor Drive Freeway in Portland was replaced by Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Capping/tunneling is not removal
[edit]This article is conflating the removal of a freeway with underground conversion. It is now explicitly in conflict with the article freeway lid, which gives the Big Dig as an example of a capping project, while this article gives it as an example of a freeway removal. The freeway is obviously still there — just underground. I also contend that rerouting is not removal either. Entries in the removal table should be removed, or at least separated or color-coded, to make clear what is being talked about here.
In at least two cases, capping is proposed in tandem with an expansion of the freeway, with I-35 in Austin and I-5 in Portland. I don't see RSs describing these as removals. Einsof (talk) 12:25, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
