The Marines do basic training at camp Pendleton, not the army.

Basic training for the Marine Corps is at San Diego CA (and Parris Island SC). Four weeks of basic training is conducted at Camp Pendleton - two weeks at Edson Range for the rifle range during second phase, and two weeks at Camp San Onofre in third phase for infantry training. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.64.0.252 (talk) 23:00, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Cause of death

There was an unsourced statement in the article attributing his heart attack to his drinking lots of coffee and smoking lots of cigars the day of his death. This is unreferenced, although it is attributed to a named person. Rather than tagging it as needing a reference, I have moved it here, since it seems over the top so far as unsourced and unencyclopedic speculation about a medical topic goes. Here it is"His Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. co-star Ronnie Schell reportedly saw Sutton "drinking gallons of coffee" and "chain-smoking cigars" during his tenure on the set of the play, which may have ultimately contributed to his early demise." Even if Schell was quoted in some mainstream publication as having said that, it is still unjustified speculation. A coroners inquest result following an autopsy would be the level of verification one would expect to see.Edison (talk) 15:18, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Ribbon rack

Frank Sutton was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart in WW II serving with the Army and these are worn in Gomer Pyle, only with USMC and Korea service ribbons substituted. 50.202.81.2 (talk) 10:09, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

These awards need solid citations otherwise should not be in the article. His name doesn't come up on the list of Purple Heart recipients. The Frank Suttons listed have different middle initials. Docsavage20 (talk) 07:01, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
