Contested deletion

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... The Foundation of Light is the registered charity of professional football club Sunderland AFC and is considered a vital organisation within the North East of England, improving the lives of 40,000 people each year. The Wikipedia page will help further promote the work we do in local communities and our history. Also, there is precedent for similar pages, such as Celtic FC Foundation. --SAFCFoL (talk) 11:05, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

Just because a similar foundation has an article doesn't mean this one should. Each article is evaluated on its own merits, there is no precedent set by having an article about a similar entity. Wikipedia articles are not for promoting the work anyone does. Wikipedia articles are for preserving knowledge about notable things. You have an obvious conflict of interest and should not be writing the article about this foundation. You should allow a neutral editor to write the article if it meets our notability guidelines. ~ GB fan 11:22, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

I looked before I nominated for speedy deletion. Foundation of Light is not mentioned on Sunderland AFC. ~ GB fan 11:32, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

The best practice is to look in reliable sources and ignore Wikipedia. I have added Foundation of Light to Sunderland's article, with a local news source, and changed this page to be a redirect. Although Sunderland AFC is an FA, the source was only written yesterday, so it's understandable it wasn't in the article. Ritchie333 ^{(talk) (cont)} 11:34, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
