Fort Fulton active dates

[edit]

Fort Fulton was built in February 1840 by soldiers of the 2d Dragoons who garrisoned it for five months. It was ordered evacuated on June 29, 1840 and the last soldiers left on July 1. The public property was moved to Fort Peyton, which was also abandoned by the next month. All public property was moved to St. Augustine. This all can be found on the post returns.
