I've uploaded an image to Wikicommons, https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/82/U._S._Fort_Colville%2C_Washington_Territory.JPG, but can't seem to get it into the file. Not sure what I need to do next.Srichart4 (talk) 02:17, 13 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I've added the image you uploaded to the article. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 04:08, 13 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Alcatraz

[edit]

The article says:

"Taking over in late 1861 were C and D Companies, 4th California Infantry Regiment. Locals considered these troops, with some recruited from Alcatrez Prison, as a bad lot including one of the fort's lieutenants who murdered John Burt."

This is anachronistic. Construction of Fort Alcatraz first started in 1859 and work on the prison didn't start until 1910 and at that point it was still a military prison on the fort grounds. The facility wasn't transferred to the Justice Department until 1933.

The partial source available online through the citation link is irrelevant to the claim in the article. The date given for the source itself is 1904, which even pre-dates the building of the military prison so everything about this citation is dubious.

I didn't edit it, but if anyone with access to the source could check this it would be good. 2601:602:C482:CB80:E81A:B16B:B287:698B (talk) 11:44, 15 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
