wood flooring vs non-wood flooring

What is meant by the sentence stating that some hectares are wood flooring and some hectatres are non-wood flooring? Is this refering to the type and quality wood produced on those hectares or something else? 65.49.184.207 (talk) 15:23, 23 January 2025 (UTC)

Wood flooring is the area covered by trees. Non-wood flooring areas are for example large places where timber is gathered e.g. for auctions, parking lots at the forest's edge, lakes and meadows in the forest, big rock formations and so on. RiteAJ (talk) 15:12, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

No, the figures are correct. Germany has about 11 million hectares or about 110,000 km² of forest covering about one third of the country, which is about 350,000 km² in size. RiteAJ (talk) 15:17, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

Updated infos since 2021/2022

Just updated the article with figures from the Fourth National Forest Inventory from 2022 and infos about the severe damages in German forests between 2018 to 2021. Don't know if all links and sources are properly inserted (newbie ...) or how to remove the request for update on top of the article, which is from 2021. RiteAJ (talk) 14:13, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
