P2 and D3 Need To be Separated
[edit]While D3 is based on P2 they are vastly different platforms with D3 having been heavily revised, moreso than this article indicates, in an effort to make it less expensive to produce. Because of this the articles need to be separated for the sake of clarity.Syr74 (talk) 15:28, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Is this still valid? The proposal was made in 2008, but the tag was put up nearly six years later. However, the clarification of the differences between the Volvo and Ford usages of the platforms is information that dates to August 2004. I'm not saying let sleeping dogs lie, but it would be better to expand on this (perhaps by sourcing some of this information and better explaining it...) than by building a whole new article. --SteveCof00 (talk) 09:46, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
You were right
[edit]I've come to the conclusion that you were correct sir. Since the E platform is now long dead the likelihood that inclusion of the same on this page will simply serve to confuse is too great to ignore. And since this platform never made it past the vague rumor stage anyway it's very existence as a genuine program is questionable. E Platform No Longer an Option
[edit]Currently the best rumors indicate that the E Platform concept is dead and that a GRWD (global rear wheel drive) platform is already being developed in Dearborn. I don't believe the E Platform section needs to be deleted since it was apparently a genuinely proposed, D3-based solution to a large, future rwd platform, and therefore is a part of D3 history, it just didn't make the cut. That said, there is no doubt revisions are in order and unless somebody objects I will make them in the near future.Syr74 (talk)
E platform
[edit]Everything I've heard indicates the Panther replacement is going to be the RWD global Huntsman platform, which will also underpin FoA RWD cars, the next Mustang and likely a RWD Lincoln flagship. The Huntsman is not a D3 derivative. I'm tempted to delete the E platform section. TheBalance 18:58, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
