Having read several items about this man, I do not believe he was born in Martha's Vinyard. It seems he moved there as an adult. Someone with more information should make a correction!

Legacy section.
[edit]How is the paragraph starting with " Smiley was not the first major map thief." In the legacy section? This seems irrelevant and mildly promotional.
