Recovery time for foraminotomy operations
[edit]I recently met with a spine surgeon (Dr. Brian A. Cole, MD, FAAOS, https://englewood-spine.com/about/), and the recovery times (time in hospital, length and severity of restricted activities) were a fraction of what is described in this article, which states "Patients stay in hospital for 5-8 nights, can drive after 8 weeks, perform light duties after 8 weeks and make a full recovery within 18 months."
I was told I will need to have a post-operative office visit at 1 week after surgery, after which I will probably be cleared to drive myself home (7-8 hours) as long as I break up the trip and rest every 2 hours.
