Due to the presence on Russian and Ukrainian Wikipedias both disambiguation pages on several place names called Fontanka and pages on the river of that name in Saint Petersburg as probably the most famous, the English page existing only for the river was erroneously aligned on Wikidata with the disambiguation item in other languages titled on Russian Wikipedia Fontanka (meanings) - not just Fontanka. Let's unambiguously title the page on Saint Petersburg river "Fontanka (river, Saint Petersburg, Russia)." GregZak (talk) 07:16, 9 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

The map is ... not good. It is, imho, impossible to use the map to determine the location of the "river" (I wonder if it is actually a river or would "canal" be more accurate? I mean at best it is a branch loop, feeding from the Neva back to the Neva). At the least - if a better map can't be found - the actual watercourse should be highlighted. It would also be useful to change the caption to read something like "The Fontanka runs South from the source (marked) before gradually turning West to its mouth (marked)." As it now exists (28.11.2025), I took the southern branch of the Neva to be the Fontanka until I zoomed in on the graphic in a separate window and saw that the Fontanka was marked with a dashed line. That is NOT apparent from the map as it appears on the page. (My screen is 32" 3840x2160, so pretty high resolution, and that small graphic just doesn't do its job.)~2025-31506-44 (talk) 15:16, 28 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
