Technical terms

MOS:TECHNICAL states:

A technical or other jargon term being introduced is often being mentioned as a word rather than (or in addition to) playing its normal grammatical role; if so, it should be italicized or quoted, usually the former. This first occurrence of the term should also usually be linked if it has its own article (or section, or glossary entry) corresponding to the exact meaning of the term as it is used in the article.

From left to right, top to bottom: Magnolia grandiflora (southern magnolia), Phalaenopsis bellina, Helianthus annuus (common sunflower), Passiflora caerulea (blue passionfruit), Zea mays (male flowers of maize or corn), Rafflesia arnoldii (corpse flower), Cyperus polystachyos, Schisandra rubriflora (Chinese magnolia vine), Phoenix reclinata (Senegal date palm) and Dracunculus vulgaris (snake lily).

This is better discussed on the talk page rather than in edit summaries. I have reverted, as I think it's a lot to add at once, and alt-texts should ideally describe what the image looks like without using techincal terms like scientific names. The proposed image collage (Added a few more images of flowers to display the diversity of angiosperm flowers) that @Monstera enjoyer added today is here. @Dracophyllum, as the main author here and a previous reverter- what do you think? -- Reconrabbit 14:45, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
