They are all incorrectly titled for starters, Florida doesn't call their state highways routes. Well, looking closer, they are actually county roads. Well at any rate, they all need to be moved to a more appropriate title. --Holderca1 19:21, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

I will take a look at them over the weekend and move them to a proper location. They probably wouldn't get deleted, there are many other county road articles from other states. Although, I wouldn't be heartbroken if they are deleted, they are hardly on the top of my to do list. --Holderca1 21:26, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Now that there's an official List of county roads in Florida, perhaps we should add these roads and more to the list, and make shields for them. I've also seen my share of them in the Tampa Bay Metro Area, so perhaps I should add them to the list as well. ---- DanTD 16:19, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Smaller state highways

I've been contemplating how to cover the number of state highways, notably in District 6, that are so small they aren't really worthy of their own article. In Miami-Dade County for example, State Roads 929, 939 and 949 are all frontage roads with 929 not even being half a mile long. SR 918 runs from an intersection to an underpass and isn't even 0.4 miles in length. SR 963, a short road off US 1 as it heads for the keys, is 0.24 miles long. There's nothing truly notable about these roads. I'd say Florida State Road 925 and Florida State Road 960 are examples of non-notable short state highways with articles.

One idea I've had is an article with a title like "List of Minor State Highways in Miami-Dade County" or just "Florida" in general? Each route can have its own section which will allow people to navigate to the next or previous highway.

Another idea would be to add the routes to existing pages. For example the routes listed above that act as frontage roads for the Palmetto Expressway could be added to its page. --Tv's emory (talk) 01:54, 10 October 2025 (UTC)

I'd, personally, argue that every primary state road is notable, by dint of being a state road, per the WP:5P, but that ship has probably long since been torpedoed. That's not a bad idea either since most of the roads I'm referring to are frontage or are next to freeways and major state highways. There are a handful of "F" routes too like 856F, 860F, 7F, 25F and so on but obviously those don't need their own articles. District 2 has a lot of them as well, including a SR 1051 that is a frontage road for SR 105, and SR 212S which is a service loop. In fact, there seem to be a few service roads in North Florida that have special designations too, which means maybe a "List of frontage roads" article might not be inclusive enough. --Tv's emory (talk) 22:40, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

Make sure those are actually designated by FDOT. (Note that sometimes FDOT's official maps contain errors, too!). But given that, yeah, List of minor state highways in Florida seems cromulent. - The Bushranger _{One ping only} 00:16, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

I never seen a minor state highway designation in the state. The closest designation would be minor and major arterial. I rarely see such things in District 1 but when you're approaching four digit state roads, it's because the three digit state roads were taken. For example, SR 105 mentioned above and SR 1051. It looks like the F suffix is perhaps the better alternative to make it clearer. With FDOT's Open Data Hub, they mentioned SHS including "active exclusive ramps and frontage roads associated with the state and county roads designations" . The "Florida Secondary State Road" system was eliminated in 1977, most of the state's county roads are former secondary state highways. But I'm not referring to "minor state highways" as some kind of designation - referring to it as a description for state roads that, while designated the same as any other, are short and individually are unlikely to pass WP:GNG. Now, FL 1051 should probably be mentioned on Florida State Road 105 like how Florida State Road 61A is on Florida State Road 61, but routes such as Florida State Road 160, Florida State Road 162, etc. are likely candidates for a "minor state roads" list. - The Bushranger _{One ping only} 01:30, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

Secondary roads where the state maintained the county roads. A lot of those roads became county roads with the same number. I get what you mean. – The Grid (talk) 13:16, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

I agree about SR 1051, and after thinking about it, I'm coming around to the idea of frontage/service/access roads being added to the pages of the routes they service as "Related Routes." I did this with Florida State Road 262, which is a local access road for Florida State Road_26, and I've been finding even more four digit roads, including SR 5050 and SR 2005. --Tv's emory (talk) 05:28, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
