"large rural"

[edit]

Flat Bush is no longer rural, it is being intensively developed, it is a suburb now.

I have changed it to suburb. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 10:04, 8 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

"town"

[edit]

"Flat Bush is a town in Auckland, New Zealand." Maybe it's just my American English, but Flatbush should not be regarded as a town, now that Auckland City is now coextensive, IIRC, with Auckland Region. But I won't change it in case somebodyw ants to debate that. YellowAries2010 (talk) 00:04, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't see how the change in Auckland's governance is relevant, but I'd agree that "town" implies something more separate than Flat Bush is from Auckland. Some of the council pages refer to it as "NZ's newest town" or similar, which seems like marketing speak. I'll try "developing suburb" and see if that sticks. --Avenue (talk) 00:35, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
What I mean is that now that Auckland City has the same boundaries (so I hear) as Auckland Region, Flat Bush would no longer be regarded as a town in its own rite. It is now part of the city proper of Auckland. So, yes, in NZ English, "suburb" would probably be appropriate. Not sure if that makes what I mean less muddy. Basically, in my mindset, a town is not part of another town or city. That's why I had a problem with this. Thanks for rewriting that part. YellowAries2010 (talk) 19:32, 24 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Merge and rename of Clover Park

[edit]

I am proposing to merge and rename Clover Park, it is not recognised thus fails WP:NPLACE and doesn't meet GNG, the community house seems to have more notability than this area. The suburb is located within Flat Bush. Renaming would allow Clover Park (Stadium) to not have to be parenthetically disambiguated. There's also a Clover Park in Washington state which came up before the one in Auckland in search engine results, but that doesn't have an article. Traumnovelle (talk) 19:48, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I've gone ahead and decided to be bold given lack of any opposition/discussion. Traumnovelle (talk) 23:04, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
