Claim about Paralympics appear fictitious!

[edit]

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/othersports/article-2200753/London-2012-Paralympics-Closing-ceremony-brings-curtain.html This is the only source that I can find that says flamethrowers were used at all in the 2012 paralympics! And it doesn't even show people using flamethrowers there at all, it's a stock image from Getty Images! CorruptSnowflake (talk) 00:42, 27 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Fuels

[edit]
  • I might update that beginning description, but i think a Diesel-Gasoline Mix was more likely for “primitive” use, followed by Fuel Thickener mixes such as Aluminum Soaps or then the Gasoline - Benzene - Polystyrene mix

Civilian Uses

[edit]
  • While they CAN be used for Fire Starting/Land Management etc, a Drip Torch is far more suitable
  • I would say Insect Control (particularly Wasps) and Powerline Debris Control (quadcopters / other “drones” with flamethrowers burning wasp nests/bird nests/misc debris off power lines)) are just about it
  • I would say Entertainment / Filmmaking / Historical Reenactment is another niche (Re: Mad Max: Fury Road etc lol)

Gas Generator Flamethrowers

[edit]

When reading the Russian Wikipedia page on the FOG-2 it mentioned broader category of “gas generator flamethrowers”.

Granted auto-translation errors + Flamethrower vs Flame fougasse could be debated, but yeah
