″Fractures to the first metacarpal bone account for 30–40% of all hand fractures and 25% of all metacarpal fractures (second to fractures to the fifth metacarpal bone).″ This claim does not make sense. Metacarpal fractures are a subset of hand fractures, right? Therefore the number of metacarpal fractures cannot exceed the number of hand fractures – right? Indeed, if carpal and phalangeal fractures exist at all, then the number of MC fractures must be smaller than the total of all hand fractures. So how can fractures of the first MC account for a third of all hand fractures – the larger set – but only for a quarter of MC fractures – the smaller set?--Mardil (talk) 08:22, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
