First Battle of Manzanillo → Battle of Manzanillo – [Proposed with the First, Second, and Fourth Battle of Manzanillo articles] Most sources refer to the topic as a collective under the name of "Battle of Manzanillo" or "Manzanillo Campaign" and not numerical engagments. The later may have been an invention on Wikipedia. Each battle was essentially a series of naval skirmishes that cumivated in the city's capture. I believe it would make the most sense to merge them into one article so that context of each skirmish is preserved, as a good portion of each article is just explaining the immediate context/legacy of the other skirmishes. In a similar vain, the First Battle of Manzanillo article is just two different skirmishes in one page. GGOTCC (talk) 01:08, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

I disagree entirely. While it may make sense to merge the articles for the first and second battles together, since they happened a mere two days apart, the third battle was not a mere skirmish but a full on pitched engagement between two squadrons two weeks later. The fourth battle was principally a land engagement between revolutionary cuban forces and the spanish garrision, while there was an american naval squadron present it was an entirely different one separate and apart from the ones involved in the first, second and third battles. The Fourth Battle of Manzanillo was also the last battle of the war fought in the carribean.XavierGreen (talk) 07:19, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
