Kazuko Shibuya

[edit]

For someone who designed pretty much all of the pixel art and inferfaces from ffi to ffvi, and has been a designer and artist at square since the beginning, shouldnt she be added as an artist here?

Pre-Far note

[edit]

This article seems to be outdated already and has multiple unsourced claims. The prose doesn't read as good as other FA articles, inconsistent format to citations, and the usage if unreliable sources such as Nintendo Everything, Nintendo Soup, and possibly more. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 06:59, 3 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Boneless Pizza!: Have your concerns with the article been resolved? If not, are you interested in bringing this to WP:FAR? Z1720 (talk) 01:26, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • @Boneless Pizza!: Have these concerns been resolved? Can this be removed from WP:FARGIVEN or should this go to WP:FAR? Z1720 (talk) 17:57, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
The issue is definitely not resolved and there are still unreliable sources, multiple unsourced statements, main series section is outdated, prose issue, and etc though I don't want to nominate it myself to FAR due to potential argument about this. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 01:54, 21 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Boneless Pizza!: Can you provide more detail about the following?
    • prose issues
    • main series updates
    • anything else in the "et cetera"
I think I can find the other things you mentioned but some explicit examples would help with the clean up effort. I believe these can be addressed without starting an FAR, but if you'd prefer to address clean up there, feel free. (Guyinblack25 talk 02:54, 21 March 2026 (UTC))Reply
Prose issues at reception that was written mostly about lists or rankings. It should be written in like Genshin Impact. "Games" and "Main series" lasted only at year 2023, despite that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (2024) was released already. RogerEbert.com is also unreliable aside from what I mentioned above. NAG, GamingDead, and Ref 126, Ref 222 needs to be replaced, including Guinness World Record to reliable source. Italicize game titles per MOS:TITLECAPS. Multiple non-free image (there should be 2 only) that was used wasn't explain why they are important for readers to be shown at the article. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 03:07, 21 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the feedback. I'll start doing what I can. I started a subsection to discuss the sourcing below. Just FYI- I frequently work at a snail's pace (Z1720 has seen me work for months in previous reviews), so this might take a while. (Guyinblack25 talk 04:20, 21 March 2026 (UTC))Reply

@Boneless Pizza!: There are still issues I've noticed that I plan to address. But since I've only been able to work sporadically, I thought I should check in for some outside feedback. Appreciate anything you might notice. (Guyinblack25 talk 20:00, 1 June 2026 (UTC))Reply

You've done a great job at this article tbh so I will definitely commend your effort on this article. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 04:31, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sources

[edit]

Subsection to sort out sources

  • RogerEbert.com - this is a subsite of the Chicago Sun-Times by award-winning film critic Roger Ebert, who within films is a very reliable source. Given this is cited for content related to the Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within film, I'd say the use is acceptable.
  • Nintendo Everything - this is unreliable and is the source for the 2017 Famitsu top ranking.
    • Best I could find to replace it is a Next Generation's coverage of the 2006 Famitsu top 100 rankings. I know 2006 isn't as contemporary as the other table rows. The alternative is to remove the row though.
  • Gaming Dead is being used for an interview, but I agree it should probably be removed. If the Joystiq article isn't enough for what is in the article, I can trim the content or see if there's better sourcing.
  • 126 - The citation is probably fine because it's a bonus DVD, but the YouTube link should be removed.
  • 222 - Agree the Geimin database isn't suitable sourcing. I'll see if there's better sources available. If not, this row might need to be removed.
  • Guinness World Records - this is fine for listing the relevant records, but I agree citation 185 is not the proper use.

I'll work on standardizing the citation formatting as I go. (Guyinblack25 talk 04:20, 21 March 2026 (UTC))Reply

Sure but do not rush. As said above, I don'thave plans to nominate this but will left a note only. Best of luck. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 06:04, 21 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I've started addressing things. If you notice anything else, please let me know. (Guyinblack25 talk 18:16, 21 March 2026 (UTC))Reply
ref 1 and 2 can be replaced to reliable sources. Also, you can move the citation at the body of the article and remove it at lead. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 19:49, 21 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ref 86 Twinfinite is also unreliable. Additionally, there are citation that do not have website or author and some aren't italicized. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 19:52, 21 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I switched out the Twinfinite source. The page's author is reliable; I've seen her work in reliable sources. But I read the discussions at WP:VG/S, so I found something useable on IGN. Still addressing other aspects though. If you notice more, please let me know. Drawing attention to these things in an article this size helps speed up the process for me. Thanks. (Guyinblack25 talk 18:42, 25 March 2026 (UTC))Reply
I apologize that I forgot to tell you that Twinfinite is about to be reliable source since there is a current discussion right now. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 18:46, 25 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
No worries. I can add the source back if the consensus changes to reliable. Thanks for letting me know. (Guyinblack25 talk 21:06, 25 March 2026 (UTC))Reply
You can add it back now if you want since it is now labelled as reliable. =) 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 13:23, 27 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Added back in. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:54, 27 March 2026 (UTC))Reply
