I can't figure out which ¿common? ¿tribal? ¿sense of superiority? did fire the Reconquista, as there were multiple "barbarian" sovereigns just trying to shake off an unwanted muslim domination.
Instead, I could argue that the long-lasting British Colonialism is really fiction-absolute, and reflect the enormous effort spent by the British Crown & Government to maintain and demonstrate it's superiority and power, by ruling among supposedly weaker and inferior regions or countries throughout the Globe (Gibraltar, Malvinas/Falkland), except where it has proved no longer possible (Hong-Kong).
