Fetere
[edit]I distinctly remember reading somewhere that the word fetus comes from the Latin word fetere, meaning to stink. I’m assuming this was wrong? 63.231.140.53 (talk) 20:07, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
- The word "fetus" is from the latin word FETUS meaning offspring, while the unrelated word FETERE is related to our word "fetid." Boonerquad (talk) 21:37, 20 August 2024 (UTC)

Merge proposal
[edit]I propose merging Comparison of fetal size to fruit into fetus. The origin article is 93 words long, per WP:SIZERULE, it should either be marked as a stub or merged to another article. Upon visiting the fetus article, it seems as this would fit under Development in humans > Variation in growth, or as it's own subsection under Development in humans. OED definition
[edit]The Oxford English Dictionary defines fetus: the young of viviparous animals in the womb, and of oviparous animals in the egg, when fully developed.
