Online Visual Ferrography
[edit]OLVF appears to have been first mentioned in Sep 2009. DOI:10.1080/1040200090282576 It appears to have had continuous interest since, mostly in China where it originated. Reasoning behind leading para change
[edit]Ferrography differs from other OA by physically separating the oil from the the contaminates to allow for better inspection, yet this was not previously mentioned in the leading para. Also there was no mention of the actual ferrograph, which is fundamental in analytical ferrography. More can be said, especially in the microscopy part, but I wanted to first establish the core idea. [edit]I think that I may have been a bit dogmatic in the last sentence of the history section regarding OLVF,
- This is significant as it allows images of wear debris to be obtained during regular machine operation.
But, the computer vision and AI applications that are made possible by that technique will potentially allow for fully automated ferrography. Therefore I think it deserves stating. (AI and CV information will need to be added)CookeJacob (talk) 11:05, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
