Q1: Why does the opening describe Ferdinand Marcos Sr. as a dictator and a kleptocrat?
A1: Several discussions have already been held, with the consensus being that reliable sources support that Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was a kleptocrat and a dictator. Wikipedia is written in a neutral point of view and facts overrule personal views and opinions. As such, Wikipedia does not censor nor whitewash these facts, regardless of the other works and accomplishments of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Torturer category
[edit]Would the torturer category be appropriate here? 2600:100C:A21D:971A:3DFA:A9B2:FCD8:A60 (talk) 06:00, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Unless it was documented that it was Marcos himself who did the torturing, then no. Howard the Duck (talk) 22:48, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- There are plenty of sources that state his regime was responsible for torturing. Why do other dictators have the mass murderer category as well? 2600:100C:A20D:BB75:D500:DBA6:3203:9CF9 (talk) 23:13, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- I suppose you need to read and understand the arguments on the mass murderer section above. Howard the Duck (talk) 01:40, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
- Bring that up on their pages as well. 2600:382:2400:1702:A0F5:BE3B:C176:8503 (talk) 23:12, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. RFNirmala (talk) 03:35, 19 August 2025 (UTC)

The Marcos Accounts
[edit]Why do you think in all this time you have never found the Marcos Accounts, because he was far cleverer than you think considering who you are and your resources. Where would he hide payments from President Reagan for his star war program for leasing the Philippine Nuclear Power Station, the French built the only thing he never told Reagan that they never commissioned it that’s Marcos. Let me know if you need any more information.i have been trying to write a book but haven’t got the patience I can send a picture of how I came across the information it will give you a date and what country. If you have an agent in the UK give them my number but it will cost you I’m to old now .

- I'm sorry but it seems you do not know how Wikipedia works. We cannot use whatever original research you know about the hidden wealth unless you have it published in some reputable news outlet or journal. Wikipedia is ran by volunteers around the world and do rely on already published information.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 12:16, 16 October 2025 (UTC)

Kleptocrat
[edit]Hi, I recently removed "kleptocrat" from the lead sentence. I am aware that this has been talked over many times on this page, and will consequently be reverted. I still vehemently disagree with the notion that Marcos is the seemingly the only embezzler chief of state/government who merits "kleptocrat" in the first sentence. In fact, I think it's ridiculous, as long as we don't call Hitler a "genocidaire" in his lead sentence, or Trump a "demagogue", or at least Suharto a fellow "kleptocrat". This is a very weird and irregular treatment of a large, important Wikipedia page, and I'm stumped how it's held on for this long. Theodore Christopher (talk) 03:14, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry just saw this. This has already been discussed multiple times before. Consensus has been to keep kleptocrat in the lead sentence. -Object404 (talk) 10:27, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
Infobox photo 2026
[edit]This picture File:Ferdinand Marcos' official portrait during his second term (1969) (cropped 2).jpg or other varations of it is a better picture for the info box photo of Marcos Wilson Palacpac III (talk) 13:58, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
- Why do you think so? Gawaon (talk) 04:02, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- it is the official portrait, focuses on Marcos only, high quality, and shows Marcos from a proper angle. Wilson Palacpac III (talk) 12:25, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- Taking an official portrait as the main picture seems problematic as a potential NPOV violation. It's better to stick with an image that neither depicts him in a particularly favourable way, as any official portrait will, nor in a particularly unfavourable way. Gawaon (talk) 03:17, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- an official portrait doesn't violate WP:NOV, official portraits are used in the infobox for many controversial politicians such as Netanyahu, Josip Broz Tito, Donald Trump, Bongbong Marcos, and others. This official portrait doesn't depict Marcos in a favourable way nor an unfavorable way. It also depicts Marcos in a proper angle rather than the current one we have now. Wilson Palacpac III (talk) 03:38, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- I remain sceptical. The portrait is from quite early in Marcos's rule, and I wonder whether he really looked as young and handsome as it depicts him, even then. But let's see what others think. Gawaon (talk) 05:26, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
