  • The article list associated professions ("English translations of fangshi encompass alchemist, astrologer, diviner, exorcist, geomancer, doctor, magician, mountebank, monk, mystic, necromancer, occultist, omenologist, physician, physiognomist, technician, technologist, thaumaturge, and wizard.") But do not actually link to the specific subject. Example, "technologist" links to technology, which says nothing about what a "technologist" is. What little definition provided is in general terms for all the above, without any distinction (i.e. they are all wizards). What is the difference between a wizard vs. a occultist vs. a thaumaturge? Fangshu section or create redirect of Fangshu to this Fangshi article?

[edit]

Greetings, I note the article also refers to fangshu.

If a section could be made with fangshu, this article would be a natural target for some problematic links in the article Li Ling (sinologist):

  1. Under the section Works, there is no wikilink for Fangshu in the sentence: "Li Ling's research and teaching concentrate on bamboo and silk manuscripts and the intellectual headstream, The Art of War, Fangshu, ..."
  2. Works #3 & #4 wikilink to the actress Fang Shu

What would be best? A section in this article to link to or the creation of a redirect for fangshu to fangshi? Thank you. -- Paulscrawl (talk) 07:45, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I linked one Fangshu mention (and two erroneous Fang Shu links! ;) in Li Ling (sinologist) to existing Fangshi article. Would be good to still mention fangshu as written works of fangshi very early in lead to minimize confusion. Thank you. -- Paulscrawl (talk) 08:05, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
