• Support because since the term is an abbreviation, this is the way it should be styled. FYE stands for "for your entertainment". And I can attest to the fact that it is now called FYE rather than F.y.e. 68.199.254.223 (talk) 12:36, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

New unencyclopedic unconstructive edits

One user took it upon himself recently to add information that about the former trans world ceo, information that details his tenure there that should be included on his own page or the parent companies, minor store closings, peacock language, and a (class action) lawsuit with allegations that are not to be included with out more information like a response from the court or a verdict. 67.246.33.174 (talk) 21:33, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello 67.246.33.174, and thank you for coming to the talk page to discuss this. Per Wikipedia:WikiProject Retailing/How to write about retailers, it is entirely valid to include details about lawsuits (pls see section Criticism and/or litigation) and store closings (section Corporate Affairs). Also consider that for the lawsuit I took care to use the verbiage of "was accused", and "alleged" so as to not imply guilt in any way. If you would like to suggest a different wording such as "was sued" or "is involved in a court case" etc, I am open to it. Mr. Higgins is likewise a valid part of the article, as he was the founder and an integral part of operations. This can be seen in hundreds of other retail articles such as Sears and Macy's and McDonald's. As for peacock language, please point out what passage you find that to be and I would be happy to discuss that, too. Best, Markvs88 (talk) 13:00, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

FYE (retailer) → FYE – Of the items on FYE, no others exactly use the all-caps spelling outside the airport code, which is not that airport's exact name. Fyé also differs by use of the accent mark, and I couldn't find widespread evidence of "fiscal year end" being commonly abbreviated as FYE outside obscure business trades. As the company name is an initialism of "For Your Entertainment", the use of all-capital letters is consistent with other commonly accepted acronyms and initialisms that often appear in all-caps, such as KFC or NBC. Also judging from the inbound links and general use outside Wikipedia, it seems the initialism "FYE" is by far most commonly understood to refer to the retailer above the code for an obscure airport or shorthand business jargon.
