There should be a list of what species do not reproduce this way. I still don't know wether or not birds reproduce this way.

Most birds do not; however I don't know if there are no birds that reproduce by external fertilization. See Bird#Reproduction for more details (it contains no mention of external fertilization) --Mairi 22:27, 8 August 2005 (UTC)Reply


The kind of fertilization between plants described here is not external. Gametes travel externally, but all of the fertilization is going on internally, i.e. within the pistil of the receiving flower.

And I quote: "the male will swim by, blow his load, and fertilize them" ...nice. Talk about some fresh salmon.
