Proposed merge of Exothispa reimeri with Exothispini

[edit]

WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA. There is single species in the tribe, therefore there should be a single article at Exothispa. William Avery (talk) 11:29, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Agree all information should be at genus level with redirects. Roy Bateman (talk) 22:08, 28 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I checked 3 databases (GBIF, CoL and BioLib) and genus is monotypic: so moved. Roy Bateman (talk) 13:55, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Taxobox corrected here and all relevant content now at Exothispa. Why was this page created in the first place? If consensus reached this article can be converted to redirect, and/or an entry on the subfamily page. Roy Bateman (talk) 16:01, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Admins. please note: same treatment is required for Callohispa/Callohispa mirifica/Callohispini please. Roy Bateman (talk) 19:59, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Exothispini redirected as discussed above (noting that there was no unique referenced content). Klbrain (talk) 20:39, 1 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Roy Bateman: There's no need to invoke admins for something that be done through normal editing - propose it, or do it yourself boldly (see WP:BRD). Klbrain (talk) 20:39, 1 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Klbrain: I would gladly do the edits needed - but this required a move to an existing page: as I understand, cutting and pasting content is not appropriate. Roy Bateman (talk) 09:05, 2 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Merges can be done by any editor, as long as the edit summaries include the sources/reasons (for the purpose of copywrite); talk page 'merged from' and 'merged to' templates are a helpful adjunct, but aren't strictly required. You're right that is a page is blank (or a redirect), and you're essentially moving an entired page to an entirely new destination, then this needs a technical move request ... but if content is mixed, it's down to editors. If you need a technical move, you can request it at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests, as most admins won't find talk page messages. Klbrain (talk) 11:02, 2 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
