Dead link in Reference 4 — Replacement Suggested

Hi everyone,

While reading the Everest ER article I noticed that Reference [4] is pointing to a dead link. The original website (pioneer.olivesoftware.com) has been completely offline for years and the page no longer exists anywhere.

This reference is currently supporting two sentences in the article that would be left uncited:

"Staffed by volunteer physicians from all over the world, the ER works to stabilize patients for evacuation and descent or, in many cases, to definitively treat the illness or injury."

and

"Everest ER has struggled to remain fiscally solvent. The clinic has accumulated some donated clinic supplies and equipment, including new custom-made tents, and solar panels."

I came across an article that covers the exact same subject : the medical operations, patient care, and equipment setup at Everest ER — and I think it could work well as a replacement source:

I do want to be upfront about something — I have a connection to the website where this article is published. I know Wikipedia takes conflicts of interest seriously, so rather than editing the article myself I wanted to bring this here first and let an independent editor decide whether the source is appropriate.

Hi @Asmit Gautam. I'm not comfortable citing a blog hosted by a tourism company. However, I updated the citation to the original newspaper story that the dead link had a screenshot of. (The dead link is available at archive today but that is no longer a usable archive source for wikipedia articles.) I appreciate you pointing out the problem with the citation. Thank you for considering this, also can we point out to a tourism company if they have well curated indepth information about any topic. Since in Nepal i have noticed that some of the informations in Nepal tourism board was published in 2023, however, they have changed those rules and not updated in the official sections. In such cases is it okay if we find out genuine information from the tourism companies? Asmit Gautam (talk) 13:47, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

If the only source that we can find for information is a commercial tourism company, it's likely that the information is not significant enough to mention. If that information is provided by independent, reliable sources, then we don't need to cite a commercial tourism company. Schazjmd (talk) 13:56, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
