"During the Holocene"

I am asking about the line in the lede that starts with, "A roughly 12-kilometre-long (7.5-mile) lava field issued from Eve Cone during the Holocene...." The Holocene is the current epoch, starting about 11,700 years ago and continuing to this day. While technically correct, the information is not helpful: was the eruption 11,000 years ago, or was it yesterday? I am hoping a subject matter expert might be able to refine that dating to something more informative. TechBear (he/him) | Talk | Contributions 15:13, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

@TechBear: Lots of volcanic eruptions in Canada have not been radiometrically dated; this is especially true for the Eve Cone eruption. An eruption is considered to have occurred during the Holocene if the volcanic deposits show no signs of having been altered by Pleistocene glaciation. Volcanoguy 15:59, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
