EDPS' role with the upcoming GDPR

[edit]

I'm wondering what the role of EDPS is with General Data Protection Regulation. That is the most important data protection regulation facing the EU, yet there's no mention in this article. In this article's consultation section, this article does link to Data Protection Directive, which in turn has a sentence in its lede that links to General Data Protection Regulation. Should GDPR be linked directly from here also, perhaps even mentioned in the lede? TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 17:58, 7 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

The EDPS is responsible for the good application of the EUDPR (https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2018/1725/oj/eng ) and not the GDPR. It is (in a way) the GDPR of EU institution, as the GDPR itself does not apply to EU Institution.
