Article needs full review and expansion
[edit]I just made a small update to the article by adding sourced information on the modern Estrada Real route, its four principal paths in Brazil, the states it passes through, and its 2023 designation as a National Monument.
The article would still benefit from a full review and expansion.
It remains quite brief for a historically important route system connected with colonial Brazil, mining, internal trade, administration, and the movement of people and goods between Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
A good starting point may be translating and adapting material from the Portuguese Wikipedia article pt:Estrada Real, which is considerably more developed, although not good enough either.
Editors with access to Portuguese-language academic sources, heritage sources, or Brazilian government publications are encouraged to help expand and improve the article. Thanks! Daniel G. Rego (talk) 01:59, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
