Propose move to "Estimating function"

[edit]

"Estimating function" is preferred in the contemporary literature, I believe. Also, plurality should be avoided for Wikipedia titles. Thanks, Kiefer.Wolfowitz (talk) 17:09, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

So would you propose renaming "method of moments" to "method of moment"? Also the obvious corresondence with "generalised estimating equations" needs to be kept, where "equations" may be more usual than "functions". And fads in "contemporary literature" are largely irrelevant to an encyclopedia such as this. Also suggested renames can be handled in the standard way: see template:rename for example. Your conclusion is correct, and most of your comments are spot-on, mostly. I withdraw the premature proposal. (Thanks for the pointer to moving articles or changing names.) Thanks, Kiefer.Wolfowitz (talk) 14:32, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
