List of famous escape ships

Uh, this entry is pretty rubbish! Sorry I know that is unconstructive, but "List of famous escape ships", followed by links to generalised articles on sci-fi franchises and to the Lifeboats article.. I think that if you (the originator) think this topic is deserving of an entry, you should expand it. I've added my own "expertise" with notes on the escape craft in Star Trek, Alien and Star Wars. pod or ship?

Shouldn't this article be under the title of escape pod, rather than escape ship? More pages link to the escape pod redirect than directly to this article, and outside of Alien, I've never heard of the term "escape ship" being used in science fiction or otherwise. Every article linked directly to here is either Alien-related or links a different word in the article. Night Gyr 10:26, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

I was thinking it should be "escape pod" as well, I think it was that way before and someone redirected it to escape ship. An "escape ship" could be anything - any ship used to leave a dying ship - like a shuttlecraft or starfighter, but an "escape pod" has a specific purpose - "to get the f*** outta there" when your ship is going down. I personally dont think so. In my opinion the technologies are different enough to be separated into different categories. What I mean by this is the fact that the "Clam Shell Ejector Seat" is just an escape pod which closes, normally its just a chair. wrong citation of Naval Aviation News issue july '71

According to ChatGPT and my quick scroll trough that pdf (citated under no. 2) The July 1971 issue of Naval Aviation News does not mention the Optimum Survival Containment and Recovery (OSCAR) concept or any escape capsules for the F‑8 Crusader. After checking all 20 pages of that issue, there are no references to “OSCAR,” escape pods, or related survival systems; the article mainly covers procurement, weapons systems, logistics, and routine news. The claim about the F‑8 using an OSCAR capsule appears to refer to a different document (possibly from 1960/61). The current citation to the July 1971 issue is therefore inaccurate and should be replaced with a source that actually documents the OSCAR concept for the Crusader.
