Regarding his first victory it is to say that it was a "typical Val Gardena-race", because conditions change and are depend on the intensity of the sunlight. Very often there racers with higher numbers can take advantage of better sunlight. Resch started with number 5 and was clocked with a time of 2:07.41 - and that time was untouched until bib no 29, British ski racer Konrad Bartelski who was clocked 0.15 of a second and 0.22 of a second faster than Resch, at last finishing 0.11 of a second behind the Austrian.
When he became third in the Downhill race of FIS Alpine World Championships 1982, he had bib no 2 - and he had a little unluck by loosing his left ski stick 30 seconds before the finish, maybe enough to cannot win the silver medal. 213.225.36.215 (talk) 11:31, 28 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
